Record Members in February

Last month, February 2010, Richard's Animorphs Forum saw record users registering on the forum. The surge in new members is due partly to the authors of Animorphs, K.A. Applegate and Michael Grant joining the forum and answering our member's questions. Additionally, the mild increase, month over month is a result of beefed up promotions of our community.

As it stands, 190 new users registered in February 2010. This means February 2010 has overtaken April 2009 by exactly 30 members. At the end of February, 2035 members are currently registered on RAF.

NEW RECORDS - February 4 2010

Yesterday, February 4 2010 two RAF Records were broken:

Most users online - First, the RAFmultitude came out on the forum. This resulted in 168 members logging in. See image / screen shot below:

Most new members in a single day - A day or so after the Animorphs Author(s) (K.A. Applegeate / Michael Grant) started answering Animorphs fan's questions, RAF saw the most new members in a single day. This record was previously held by June 5 2008, when Richard's Animorphs Forum completely moved from Conforums to SMF and 23 persons registered on the present-day RAF.
Fast-forward to February 4, I tweeted that RAF was 7 members away from breaking that very old record. I felt that because of the influx of members to ask questions to Applegate / Grant and read their replies, this record could come down that day.

I was right. 27 persons registered on RAF within 24 hours on February 4. Beating the old record by 4 members.

To all those 27 members who registered yesterday - welcome to RAF - The Ultimate Animorphs Forum, and congratulations for being a part of the record breaking batch. Even though you had no idea that records were falling.

The biggest Animorphs community has yet again hit a 100 members milestone. This time Richard's Animorphs Forum hit 1800 members; taking less than a month to jump from 1700 to 1800.

The next milestone - 1900 members has never been hit before.

It therefore took us a whopping 5 months to attract 500 members.

4 Million Hits on RAF Forum

When I started blogging about each time RAF Forum hits 1 million hits I had no idea that we would be hitting the milestone every month/ few weeks.

Today, after 3 weeks (and a day) of hitting 3 million the counter passed 4 million.
I probably will continue blogging about each millionth hit, just to keep a record of when it happened.

So expect 1 more million in 1 month? I hope so ^_^

RAFparty #5 day 1

Yep, it's that time of the month again...

Today was the first day of the fifth RAFparty (or as I like to call it RAFparty 09.02.01). My name is morfowt, and I will be your author today.

The party started at midnight (like usual), with people counting down the minutes left, hours before it even started. This RAFparty wasn't quite as active or crazy as previous ones, most likely because it was also valentine's day, so some people were spending it with their dates. Others, were probably busy with work and other things.

As the first day draws to a close, let's look back at some of the highlights...
  1. Top Poster: Esplin 9466, now an admin, has beaten Leigh, and is now the top poster, with 11245 posts total.
  2. New Gods: Congratulations Azguard and Mirienne for achieving God status! Azguard, especially, because he is the first new member (a member that wasn't from RAFclassic) who achieved God status
  3. 10000+ posts: Superclaire, recently promoted to Sr. Staff, has made over 10000 posts, and is the 4th member on RAF to do so.
Other Stats include:
  1. Top Poster Today: Esplin 9466 has made 800+ posts today. Not as high as previous parties, but still pretty high, nonetheless.
  2. New Topics Today: The first day, we've created 36 new topics. That places it in second place (first place goes to the first day of the RAFparty in January, with 46 new topics).
  3. Page Views Today: Not much happy news here. Although we've made 60440 hits (which is a high number, and the second most on RAFparty days), it's not even the most number of hits this month. On February sixth, we made over 61000 hits.
  4. New Posts Today: Alas, we've only made 4188 new posts today. That's lower than the last 4 RAFparties (1 day counts as 1 party).
To summarize, not the best RAFparty ever, but a successful one, with goals achieved...

And remember: the RAFparty lasts 2 days, so if you missed the first day, there's still the second...

3,000,000 Hits on RAF Forum

Richard's Animorphs Forum's actual forum just recorded its 3 millionth hit. We recorded our 2nd millionth hit back on December 30, 2008, meaning we gained a million hits in exactly 4 weeks.

January may/ will be the first month in RAF history, that the forum was viewed 1 million times.

What is a hit?
It's also called pageview... each time the page is loaded it counts as a hit. Because RAF is a forum, this number tends to be high.

Update 1: 10PM. RAF Forum passes 1 million hits in January alone:

Best (Statistical) Day in RAF History

Date: January 11, 2009
Place: RAF Forum & RAF eBooks

The January RAF Party is done; the place is a mess, hung-over members litter the grounds, and records lay tattered, smashed... destroyed.

What happened on January 11, 2009 is quite spectacular. First the forum experienced activity like never before.

8,156 new posts were created
77,318 hits were recorded

Both these statistics are new RAF Records!

Tallying the two days of the RAF Party, we see 13,424 new posts created (that is more than the individual months of August, September and October 2008). As for hits, the two days accumulated 112,349 hits on the forum alone.

The image below shows us the comparisons between RAF Parties... The last 3 spikes are the RAF Parties. The last spike is January's.

Now I'd like to turn your attention to the following graph You see that Burj Dubai like structure?:

Here is where RAF eBooks comes in (you know, the place which houses all the Animorphs eBooks, and now includes Remnants & Everworld?).

Yesterday, January 11, saw thousands of users from all over the world coming from StumbleUpon; a social bookmarking website. This accounted for the unprecedented (according to Google) 3,284 visitors, according to StatCounter 3,969 visitors which visited yesterday.
The RAF average prior to yesterday was 583.

Top RAF Party Statistics - Day 1

RAF Party

The first day of the RAF Party can be described only as a success. The intent was to get members out, break records, and have fun. Members came out, records were broken, and I surely had fun.

Firstly, 73 members turned out.
11 new topics created.
1,625 new posts were created (RECORD).*
21,320 hits were recorded. (RECORD).**

*The average new posts per day on RAF Forum is approximately 400 posts: we quadrupled that average.
**Of the impressive statistics recorded, the 21,320 hits breaks the most hits recorded of all time. The previous best was 19,407 on RAF Classic on July 30, 2005.

So who were the top posters 5 on the first day?

  1. 9466 - 406 Posts

1,000,000 Hits on RAF Forum

Today RAF Forum passed the 1 Million hits mark. RAF Forum as you should know, has been open from May 31, 2008, some 4 months ago. In contrast, on RAF Classic (the old RAF), it took one year and 5 months to cross the million hits mark using StatCounter totals.

Additionally we seemed to have crossed the 1000 topic mark. There isn't any active Animorphs forum posting those numbers. Most active Animorphs Forum on the net? Not sure, but this shows us that Animorphs is still alive and kicking.

Insight into RAF's Uptime

This weekend for RAF has not been good as it relates to the website's uptime. According to statistics, RAF: The Animorphs Forum since last year April has been online 99.227% of the time. Sounds like a lot? It is.

But as of June, and we are two weeks in, our uptime has fallen to 97.305%, while for this month we've been offline 2.695% of the time. That's a statistic I'm not proud of.  Granted, for May 2008 / last month, our downtime percentage was mearly 0.067%. There was only once instance of RAF being down. We have been offline 11 times this month.

You can keep up-to-date with our uptime, and percentages, by following this link.

Looking Back Stats... '07

Well, first off let me say thanks to all RAFers for their continued participation with us. You guys have made RAF the most popular, most active Animorphs forum on the internet, and I thank you.
So, me being a statistic buff, I'm going to go over every statistic I can find in relation to RAF.

Offical StatCounter stats show that this year RAF was viewed 399,379 times, by 38,300 people.

The most popular month of the year was December where RAF was viewed 89,889 times in that month.

There were 259 members registered on RAF on December 31 2006/January 1 2007. 365 or so days later there are 1,111 members. This undoubtetly due to the e-books.

December's top 5 keywords were:

1. "animorphs"
2. "animorphs ebooks"
3. "read animorphs online"
4. "animorphs ebook"
5. "animorphs books"

20,000 posts were made last year. I don't have official numbers on this, but who was the top poster of the year? Well, let's put it like this, Leigh has 10859. lol.

Not bad for a forum that's all about Animorphs...a series that has been dead for, uhm, 6 years. 7, when RAF turns 5 years old.

Monday Update

What a busy weekend it was for me. I, for the first time, scanned and uploaded book 34, and it is officially available for download via the Animorphs Forum e-Book Project. I must thank nihtelek for OCRing (is that a word?) the book for the Project.

Since yesterday, my Ripway web-space that has been hosting the e-books for easy download access, has been overwhelmed, and has been repeatedly shut down for excessive bandwidth usage. The image below displays bandwidth usage for the past 24 hours.

As a result, I have moved the Direct Downloads links to another host which allows for 3gb with of transfers per month versus the 150mb per day with Ripway.

62 persons as you can see from the image below have come to the blog from search engines, and with that the keywords used have come to light. An overwhelming number of persons are in search of ebooks. And thanks to Dace we are now the place to find these ebooks.
